A building’s façade is its public identity — but also a key structural and performance system. At Veitas Engineers, we view façades as an integration of aesthetic vision and engineering discipline.
Design Beyond Appearance
Façades aren’t decoration; they’re a balance of load support, waterproofing, and energy control. The choice between fiber-cement, thin brick, or panelized cladding affects both appearance and structure. Lightweight materials simplify attachment, reduce wall loads, and keep costs predictable.
Plan for Insulation and Energy Standards
With Passive House and high-efficiency standards rising, insulation layers are getting thicker — leading to deeper window trims and longer fasteners. We plan early to prevent inflated wall depths or coordination conflicts during installation.
Stacked Windows, Streamlined Costs
Aligning windows vertically avoids expensive transfer headers. In Type 3A and 5A buildings, these transfers multiply hardware costs and extend schedules. Keeping windows stacked across elevations simplifies both engineering and framing.
Lock Brick Shelves Early
Brick shelf and ledger locations affect foundations, grades, and elevations. Finalizing them before CDs prevents mid-project rework across trades.
